The tree services we provide are:

Tree Removal:

Sometimes trees just outgrow the garden they have been planted in or they are unhealthy or hollow. Whatever the reason maybe the best felling method will be chosen to get the tree taken down safely. Also the actual removal of the tree off your property will be presented to you to ensure that everybody is happy this would include neighbours and keeping general public safe. Normally the best method is to climb the tree employing proven rope methods and safely dismantling it portion by portion. We also offer a service whereby if the client owns a log burner, logs can be cut to size and stacked ready for splitting at a later date.

Crown Thinning:

This technique is mostly know to be used on broad leaf trees, we use it on shrubs and bushes when only a hedge trimmer has been used on the plants, it means that the branches will be fully grown in all direction inside with only small amount of leaves on the ends of the branches. We do crown thinning to allow light into the plant/tree and encourage new growth from more within the plant allowing more leaves to be produced to keep the plant healthy.

Crown Reduction:

This is reducing the overall size of the tree or bush or shrub and maintaining the shape. We use this method a lot in small to medium size gardens to bring the tree down in size that is more inkeeping with the garden, allowing room for future growth, and also allowing other plants that may be smothered or gone leggy trying to get to the light to be accessed and tended too.

Crown Lifting:

Also known as lifting the crown, when the lower branches are too low that they are either shading other plant, or actually touching the ground and starting to root from the branch. Lifting the crown on larger trees, bushes and shrubs can allow light onto the soil area allowing smaller plants to thrive, and on trees taking the crown above say the fence line can allow the garden to look bigger and lighter, and allow you to see the surrounding landscape outside your garden.

Pollarding:

This is a severe method of pruning where all the branches are taken off. This can be done for several reasons. Tree lined streets (AKA Avenues any type of tree or Boulevard which have broad leave trees) can have the method of Pollarding used on them to avoid the branches overgrowing and getting caught by passing traffic, or another example would be pollarding a smoke tree (Continus) for having more of an effect with leaves being large and close together on new growth, if left a smoke tree leaves can be large on the lower branches and become much smaller on the top losing the desired effect of the visual effect of the tree when leaved out.

Dead Wooding:

Removing dead, damaged or diseased limbs off the crown of the tree. This also includes removing dead trees such as Ash which have had ash die back. Sometimes on shrubs and bushes the dead part can be removed and on continuing down the branch of the plant it may be found that it healthy and living and only needs taking down to a y joint or node to allow the branch to re-grow.

Hedge Trimming:

We carry out any type of hedge trimming, pruning or hedge reduction. With evergreen hedges please be aware that once the branch has been cut beyond the green needles it will not grow back. So we will always come to view the hedge first and discuss with your hedge cutting requirements.

Emergency Response:

High winds and storms can cause a lot of damage to trees, we are here to help to carry out tree work to remove any damaged branches or whole trees. If the tree or branch has struck and damaged your property, please call your home insurance which may be also known as building and contents insurance, they may have their own appointed Tree Specialist, or they may need you to provide them with our contact information to get the work carried out as soon as possible.
